We determine the composition and thickness of coatings using the X-ray fluorescence method with the x-ray XDAL 237 Fischerscope (manufacturer Helmut Fischer). This method does not destroy the material being tested. The spectrometer is equipped with a motorised measuring table, enabling large numbers of measurements to be taken in a short time. The device enables measurements of thickness of galvanic coatings from a few nanometres to several tens of micrometres. It is also possible to measure simultaneously several coatings in multilayer systems, as well as to examine the composition of alloy coatings.
